Yogi govt laid 14,935 KM long road network in villages of UP

Lucknow: When everyone was busy holding COVID-19 responsible for underdevelopment in their states, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath decided to rise to the occasion and expedite the development works in Uttar Pradesh.

According to a spokesperson of the state government during the first four years of his regime, out of which two were marred due to the pandemic, CM Yogi has done some exemplary work. Villages with no roads before a few years are now thriving through the largest road networks under the thoughtful leadership of CM Yogi. Through PWD (Public Works Department), the state government has created the biggest road connectivity in the remote areas of the state.

With the take-off of developmental projects, CM Yogi has changed the image of the rural areas of the state. Ever since the Yogi government came to power, 14,935 kilometers long road network has been expanded in the rural areas of the state, the spokesperson said.

A total of 2275 habitations with a population of more than 250 people, located within a 5 km radius on either side of the 7 meters or wider roads, have been directly connected to the road network, he said. According to Census 2001, PWD has constructed 1763 kilometer long road at a cost of Rs.1.114 crore which connects 1557 revenue villages with a population of more than 250.

A total of 1543 revenue villages have been connected to the road network by constructing 1739.30 kilometers long roads. According to Census 2011, the construction of roads for 297 villages with a population of more than 250 has been completed at a cost of 183.87 crores. A total of 163 such revenue villages have been connected to the road network by constructing a road of 184.34 kilometers. So far, 1674 habitations have been connected with the connectivity route by constructing 2121.57 km at a cost of a total of Rs1407 crores. Under MukhyamantriSamagra Gram VikasYojana, construction of 29 kilometers long road has been almost completed for 33 revenue villages at a cost of Rs 14.35 crore.
