Yogi Govt announces ‘Bal Seva Yojana’ for children who lost their parents in pandemic

Lucknow: In a novel and sensitive step, the Yogi government has decided to take responsibility of those children who lost their parents or guardians in the Corona pandemic. Announcing the unique 'Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister BalSevaYojana', CM Yogi said that the state government would take care of the upbringing and education of orphaned children. As per the provisions under the scheme, the government would give financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per month to the child's guardian or caretaker till they attain adulthood.
The Children below the age of ten years who do not have parents or family will be taken care of by the State Government Children's Homes, operated with the help of the Government of India or by its own resources. Currently, such homes are functional in Mathura, LucknowPrayagraj, Agra, and Rampur. Under the scheme, the minor girl child will be housed in the Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools (Residential) run by the Government of India or in the Government Children's Homes (Girls) run by the State Government. At present, there are 13 such children's homes are in the state. Apart from this, they will be taken care of in 18 Atal residential schools being set up in the state. The State Government would also provide an amount of Rs. 1,01,000 for the marriage of such girls. Yogi government has also made provision of giving tablets, laptops to all such children studying in school or college or pursuing vocational education.
