The buzz is going on that the re-known political strategist Prashant Kishore is going to join Congress. Though the news is not declared officially yet by both parties, there is strong buzz about this. PK recently met Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi in which Rahul is said to be suggested that, PK should join the party instead of advising from outside. The real question is will PK be beneficial to the Congress? There are many possibilities. Firstly, PK should show his capability to bring together all opposition parties against PM Modi’s juggernaut. But, as the leaders of opposition parties are obsessed with their own egos, the possibility seems to be less. But, as the situation is difficult for every party to even survive, out of compulsion they might come together. But, it will be a temporary arrangement. Congress will get immense benefit from PK as he has worked as political strategist for every party including BJP, Congress, TMC, JDU and many more. So, he knows every party’s strength and weaknesses. This will give him added advantage of judging correctly what will be other party’s next move. Another meaning of Congress asking him to join the party is that, the grand old party has become really disappointed with its performance in next elections in states. Once upon a time, Congress did not need any other leader with Gandhi dynasty. Indira Gandhi’s one rally would change all the equation and never Congress candidates would lose. But, now Congress high command i.e. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi are unable to pull the crowd for their rallies, let alone the garner the votes and help win their candidates. If PK  joins Congress, it will mark a shift in the manner of winning the elections. In earlier days, only candidates’ campaign on loud speakers and jeep rallies, house to house visits were considered as campaign means. Now, it will be a strategy to win in which there is no need to campaigning in scorching summer heat and just political moves to be done. It is searching the weaknesses of opposition and focus on those to hamper their chances.  The root cause of choosing PK as main strategist by Congress is the death of Ahmad Patel, a behind the screen strategist. He was most trusted man of Sonia Gandhi and he was responsible for all the decisions the party would take. No party leader has not been able to take his place. Many were in the race, but Sonia wants a man who will be all out for Congress. Congress may have seen second Ahmad Patel I PK.  If Congress wants to use his brilliance in making strategy for Congress, then why Rahul is insistent for his joining of his party? The reason is simple. If PK joins the party, his sense of belonging will be more intense. Secondly, he can be projected as big Congress leader whose own image may help the party.  Also, as a party general secretary for elections bound states, he will be delegated more authority in decision making and no leader will question his decisions. PK will be considered  more trustworthy and important by other opposition parties when the question of bringing together all non BJP parties will arise.  PK as a party functionary, will gather more clout in political circles which will be ultimately beneficial for Congress. Also, PK’s involvement as a party leader will also be enhanced because when a strategist works, he thinks only from a nonaligned manner. Anyhow, it will be an interesting battel between BJP and Congress if PK joins latter. It can change the equations  forever or not. If  BJP wins the states elections, then it will be an end to PK’s career.
