Priyanka Gandhi all set to kick-start Mission UP, will camp in Lucknow from July

New Delhi: Congress general secretary and in charge of the party's Uttar Pradesh unit Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is all set to kick-start 'Mission UP' with an eye on the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Priyanka Gandhi has decided to camp in Lucknow from July on a regular basis and will be spending most of her time there. She will relocate to Lucknow, where party veteran Sheila Kaul's home was renovated months ago. The renovation work, on the other hand, is still on. Speaking to India Today TV, Uttar Pradesh Congress vice-president VirendraChaudhary said, "The Kaul house has been renovated to her specifications and it has been almost six months since the renovation was completed. It is being spruced up further to suit her."

"Now when she [Priyanka Gandhi] is coming, Uttar Pradesh will witness a change of development under her leadership," UP Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu told India Today.

Sheila Kaul, who died in 2015, was Jawaharlal Nehru's sister-in-law. She previously held the positions of union minister and Chief Minister of Delhi. Her residence is located at GokhaleMarg in Lucknow, about three kilometers from the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters.

When Priyanka Gandhi was appointed Congress general secretary in charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2019 LokSabha elections, then-party president Rahul Gandhi said that his sister was given the responsibility as part of a long-term plan.
