New Delhi: After being ousted as the chief of the LokJanshakti Party (LJP) that was founded by his father Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party must now choose between him and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The BJP is in alliance with Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) in the NDA government of Bihar, but the LJP is in alliance with the BJP at the Centre.
"I stood with the BJP on each step, including CAA, NRC. However, Nitishji disagreed with the same. Now, the BJP has to decide whether they will support me or Nitish Kumar (Bihar Chief Minister) in the coming days," ChiragPaswan said.
During last year's Bihar Assembly polls, Chirag had described himself as PM Modi's 'Hanuman' and played the same tune today seeking the PM's intervention into the LJP crisis.
"It is not right if Ram remains silent when Hanuman is being killed. As Hanuman who stood firmly with the BJP on every decision, today when the hour of crisis has come upon the LJP, it is expected that it would intervene, and try to resolve the matter somehow. But the silence of the BJP has certainly made me sad. Still, I will say that I have full faith in the PM that by taking the situation under control, he will definitely intervene to sort out this political issue," Chirag told news agency ANI.
