Has Congress lost its relevance

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has recently called workers at Dehli and asked them to reach the people fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic and help them and guide them about vaccination. Also, Congress released a white paper on Covid-19 and while releasing it, Rahul Gandhi said that the paper is not about finger-pointing but will serve as a guide for the government. Sonia may have made a clarion call for Congress workers to help people in the Corona crisis, where are the Congress workers is a million dollars question. In all the Corona crisis, Congress workers were absent from the public life and somewhere a handful of workers come on streets against fuel prices hike in the morning and at the noon, sleep at their houses calmly. Actually, Congress has lost will power to come to grab power again. Maybe Congress has taken Rahul’s statement that power is a poison very seriously. In all these days when people were facing immense problems like the shortage of Oxygen beds and cylinders, Remdesivir and beds in the hospitals, Congress workers were nowhere in the picture. Congress leaders were only roaring on Twitter against Modi and Shaha, who never pay any attention to such roars posted on social media. Rahul Gandhi only hurls an allegation against Modi on Twitter and he retires for the whole day. Nobody knows where he lives in the remaining time. He never comes in the open to guide the workers or even Priyanka also is absent from public life. Congress is busy setting its own house in order first as there are signs of rebellion in Rajasthan and Punjab. But this does not mean the workers should sit idle. Congress is still the main opposition and it has forgotten its role as the opposition. Actually, Modi has done very good work in pre-Covid years but in the Covid crisis, he has done umpteen mistakes from failing to gauge the severity of Covid waves to make proper preparations for vaccination or Oxygen cylinders. Whatever the problems are faced by people, they themselves had fought against government and Congress as the opposition has sat idle in all these days. Still, Congress thinks people should vote for it in the next elections, which is not possible. In earlier days, Congress candidates used to win the polls easily with the aura of Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi. With their one-election rally, the victory of Congress candidate was ensured. But, today Congressmen should remember that Sonia and Rahul's duo is unable to make the party victorious in both parliament elections. Still, Congressmen believe in the capability of the mother-son duo to bring victory for the grand old party. Gandhi dynasty has lost its luster and so it is silly to expect that Sonia or Rahul will guide them to victory. As Congress believes that, if the party gets victory, it is credited to the Mother-Son duo and it party loses, the local factors are responsible. In such a situation, there is no way to evaluate the real ability of leadership to take the party to power. The reality is that today Modi is very comfortably ruling the country as there is no strong opposition. The main opposition has deviated from its duty of an opposition party and if there is an opposition like Congress, BJP should not worry about twenty-five years of losing power. Congress should build itself as a new and robust opposition if it has to survive in the 2024 general elections. The importance of Congress is today needed to the extent never in the past and at the precise time, Congress has lost its will and relevance. If such an opposition party is there, Modi or BJP should not worry about the next 25 years. Congress has lost its relevance so much so that, its news are not covered by even small newspapers. This picture should be changed and it is in the hands of Congress's high command.
