After remaining closed for nearly six months due to the Covid-19 restrictions, religious places reopened in Maharashtra, including Mumbai and Thane. Several devotees visited temples across the city and adjoining Thane since early morning. The state government has allowed the reopening of religious places with the beginning of the nine-day Navratri festival. Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray — along with his wife Rashmi and two sons Aaditya and Tejas — visited the Mumbadevi temple. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also accompanied them. One thousand diyas were lit up outside a temple in Ghatkopar as temples reopened after a long gap.
