On NCP's foundation day, Sharad Pawar praises Shiv Sena; calls it trustworthy party

Mumbai: "No one had thought that we will form the govt with Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena is a trustworthy party. Balasaheb had always kept his word when Congress lost and Janata party govt came to power that time also Shiv Sena supported Congress in the state assembly election by not giving a single candidate in that election. Balasaheb had given word to Indira Gandhi which he kept," said NCP chief Sharad Pawar on the party's 22nd foundation day.

Pawar also expressed confidence that this govt will complete its tenure. "Many are still raining doubts over the stability of this govt but let me tell you this govt will complete its tenure and perform better in the next Lok Sabha & state assembly elections together."

Pawar feels that this govt not only will complete its tenure but also will work for the people of Maharashtra. "There were doubts raised after CM-PM meet in Delhi which is wrong, But yes we need to solve the issue of OBC & Maratha reservation soon," said Pawar.

Pawar & Balasaheb Thackeray's friendship was very well known to Maharashtra. Though both were rivals on the political battlefield and have seen criticizing each other off the field both were very good friends.

Liking towards literature, cricket & food had brought them close. But when Pawar part his ways from the Congress party and floated his own party no one could have thought that one day Shiv Sena which follows the philosophy of Hindutva & NCP, which is a more liberal party will join hands together and form the govt.

When Shiv Sena and NCP thought to join hands then it was Pawar who convinced Congress high command to join the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

After forming the govt, Uddhav Thackeray many times have sought the guidance of the NCP supremo on various issues including sticky issue like Maratha reservation. Before meeting, PM Uddhav Thackeray had a meeting with Sharad Pawar on various issues related to state which later he raised in meeting with PM.

In his foundation day speech, Pawar said, "Many parties came and gone in Indian politics but from past 22 years, NCP is trying to increase its power in the state. When we were not in power many left us but I am glad this gave chance to the next generation of leaders to take responsibility. This govt has been accepted by people & now they trust this govt."
