Moneypox takes lives of 58 in Congo

Kinshasa : 58 deaths and 1,284 suspected Monkeypox cases have been detected in African nation Republic of Congo.

has reported 58 deaths due to Monkeypox viral infection. Moreover. World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated that several African countries are under the grip of this virus, which spreads very fast.

According to WHO, Sankuru, Tshopo, Equator, and Tshippo provinces of Congo are the worst sufferer. Out of the total cases in Congo, 75 per cent are in these provinces. Regional head of WHO Dr Hans Henri Kloge has stated that cases of Monkeypox have been confirmed in eight European nations. On Friday 37 persons were confirmed to have been infected with the virus. Tests for the 71 suspected cases are being conducted.

Media has reported that a few cases were also found in Britain, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and US. The infection spreads in close contact with the infected person. Fever, body ache, head ache, swelling, boils on the body and exhaustion are primary symptoms of the infection.
