Kashmiri Pandit given tearful adieu as anti-Pak protests erupt

Budgam : Last rite of the Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhatt, who was killed by terrorists at the Tehsil office in Budgam district, was performed on Friday morning in Bantalab Jammu.

Jammu DPP Mukesh Singh, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Avni Lavasa, BJP State President Ravindra Raina, former Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta and a large number of local people were present for the rites.

Two terrorists, late Thursday evening, entered Tehsil office and started firing indiscriminately at government employee Rahul Bhatt. The terrorists fled from the spot in the chaos. Seriously injured Rahul was immediately rushed by his associates to the Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital, where Rahul succumbed to his injuries.

Security has been beefed up in all displaced colonies after the incident. Security has been tightened outside the colony of employees living in Budgam's Sheikhpora as well as Anantnag and North Kashmir. Patrolling has also been increased in these areas.

There is a lot of angst among the people of Jammu over the brutal killing of Kashmiri Pandit in the Valley. The public including social and political organisations are hitting the streets and raising anti-Pakistan slogans.

Rahul was appointed as a clerk in the Tehsil office on 09 September, 2020 and was living with his family in Sheikhpora, a displaced colony. Rahul was originally a resident of Sangrampora in Veerwah area of Budgam district.
