Prayagraj: The UP Board of Education has received over 4,000 proposals for preparing the results of more than 56 lakh students who have registered for the 2021 high school and intermediate exams. By 2 p.m. on Thursday, the board had requested recommendations from all stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, and principals) in order to decide the formula for the results of Class X and XII boards' cancelled examinations owing to Covid-19. These proposals will be brought to the government at the next meeting for consideration. Following the conference, the government may provide a method for determining the marks that will be awarded to pupils in grades X and XII. Vinay Kumar Pandey, director of secondary education and chairman of the UP Board, had requested proposals from the principals of reputable government, aided and unaided school in each of the 75 districts, as well as an office-bearer of the teacher-parent association, till June 7. There were 580 suggestions at the time. On June 7, they were summoned to a conference presided over by additional chief secretary AradhanaShukla.
Following that, it was decided that all stakeholders' suggestions should be considered. “Over 3,500 recommendations were submitted by a cross-section of stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and administrators, and all have recommended their way of calculating the marks that would be granted to kids in class X and XII board” said an anonymous source at the board.
According to the source, the majority of ideas were that an average of class X, XI, and pre-board or any other exam conducted in class XII should be the main basis for awarding marks in class XII. Similarly, for class X, the grades from preceding classes should be taken into account. The UP board has already cancelled the board examinations for class XII due to the state's coronavirus issue. The board had previously advised that students in Class XII take a 90-minute exam in each subject in the second week of July. The UP board's decision was consistent with that of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which had also cancelled the Class XII exams. Over 26 lakh students who had registered for the Uttar Pradesh Class XII board exams this year would benefit from the board's decision. The state had previously cancelled Class X board exams and decided to promote nearly 29 lakh pupils to the next class without exam. The state administration has also agreed to promote students from Class VI to Class IX a class ahead, as well as those from Class XI without examination.
