Major Dhyanchand Cup All India Women's Hockey Tournament from June 17 to 19

Amravati : The Women's Hockey Academy, founded by some women hockey players from Amravati, has organized the 'Major Dhyanchand Cup All India Women's Hockey Tournament' from June 17 to 19. This is probably the first time in the field of hockey that such a mega sport event is being held in Amravati.

Preparations for the tournament have begun and District Collector Pawneet Kaur recently accepted the invitation to inaugurate the tournament. After this, many further matters will be completed by his testimony. The three-day hockey festival will be played on the theme of 'League Come Knockout' and two other five grounds are being prepared for it, including the District Stadium, the Deputy Ground in Itwara area and the Police Exercise Ground. Ashok Dhyanchand, son of Indian hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand and a frequent gold medalist in Indian hockey Chamula Olympics for this tournament Negi, former Indian hockey team goalkeeper Ashok Diwan, former Indian women's hockey team captain Saba Anjum, leading player Nehasingh, Arjuna Award winner Pritam Sivach, Aslam Sherkhan, Vijay Phillips, Omkarsingh, Govinda, Syed Jalal, Sudarshan Singh, Hemant Dubey (Betul), Critic Many famous players from all over the country including Afaq Ahmed (Jhansi), Sameer Daad (Bhopal) will be coming to Amravati.

16 teams from all over the country will be selected for this tournament. Deputy Director of Sports Vijay Santan himself has taken the initiative for this mega sport event which is taking place for the first time in Amravati and the planning meeting was held at his residence.

Women office bearers in the district

There is another reason behind organizing national level women's hockey tournament in Amravati. Amravati's Guardian Minister, MP, MLA, Collector, Commissioner of Police, Superintendent of Irrigation are holding the posts of Women Engineers.
