Hockey India congratulates Manpreet Singh on completing 300 international matches

Indian hockey team captain Manpreet Singh completed his 300 international appearances in India's first match against Ghana in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Hockey India has congratulated him on his achievement.  Hailing from Mithapur, near Jalandhar, Punjab, Manpreet made his international debut in 2011 at the age of 19. Since then, he has reapresented the country in all major tournaments and witnessed some of India's most spectacular and significant victories.  The veteran midfielder, Manpreet, has been one of the key figures in the Indian team for a long time. In his career spanning over 11 years, Manpreet has led the Indian men's team to several memorable victories, including the historic bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games. He was also the flag bearer of the Indian contingent at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.  India won bronze at the 2018 Asian Games, silver at the 2018 Champions Trophy, gold at the 2018 Asian Champions Trophy, first place in the 2019 FIH series final, and bronze at the 2021 Asian Champions Trophy under his captaincy.
For his achievements, the Indian captain was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2018, the FIH Player of the Year (Men's Category) in 2019 and the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in 2021.
Commenting on his incredible achievement, Manpreet said, "This is a very special moment for me and my family. It also reminds me that I have come a long way and there is still a long way to go. It is with great pride and honour that I wear the Indian jersey, and it really inspires me every time I wear this jersey. It has been a wonderful journey so far, and I thank everyone who has been a part of it. I hope I will continue to give my best to my country. " He said, "It is a great feeling to achieve this milestone at a prestigious event." It will surely motivate me to give my best for the team to achieve their goal of winning the first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. But for that, we will focus on that one match at a time, and give our 100% on the pitch. " Congratulating Manpreet on completing 300 international matches, Indian men's team head coach Graham Reid said, "Manpreet has been one of the most influential figures in the team. He is someone who leads by example. 300 Internationals To get the cap is a huge achievement, he has worked really hard and made a lot of sacrifices to be here. I congratulate him on this incredible milestone and I wish him all the best for the future."
Talking about the match against Ghana in the Commonwealth Games 2022, Indian men's hockey team defeated Ghana 11-0 in this match. In this match for India, dragflicker Harmanpreet Singh (10', 35', 53') scored a hat-trick, while Jugraj Singh (22', 43') scored two, Abhishek (2'), Shamsher Singh (14'), Akashdeep Singh (20'), Neelkant Sharma (38'), Varun Kumar (39') and Mandeep Singh (48') scored a goal each.
