CBI books its Sub-inspector for leaking Anil Deshmukh's report

Nagpur : Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested its own Sub-inspector for leaking confidential report relating to charges against former Maharashtra Minister Anil Deshmukh.

The report , CBI granting clean chit to Anil Deshmukh became viral, raising question about secrecy at CBI. On Wednesday evening CBI arrested Deshmukh’s son-law GauravChaturvedi and lawyer for enquiry. Chaturvedi was allowed to go after 20 minutes. The lawyer, AnandDaga, however, was in the CBI custody for further enquiry.

The CBI Sub-inspector Abhishek Tiwari, allegedly took bribe from persons close to Deshmukh and leaked confidential papers. The information was given by CBI officer R C Joshi to a new group. Raids at locations connected to Abhishek Tiwari in Prayagraj and Delhi are being conducted by CBI. Tiwari was in contact with Deshmukh's lawyer. CBI is investigating into Tiwari-Deshmukh and his lawyer's connection, in charges of money laundering and extortion against Deshmukh.

The enquiry has taken a different turn with involvement of CBI Sub-inspector in leaking confidential documents and taking bribe from the accused Anil Deshmukh.
