During the hearing on the Rana couple's bail application on Saturday, the court had reserved its verdict after hearing arguments from both the parties. 17 cases have been registered against MLA Ravi Rana and 6 against MP Navneet Rana. Therefore, the government prosecutors had opposed the bail of the Rana couple. The Rana couple's bail application was heard again today. At that time, the court has given them relief. A few days back, Amravati MP Navneet Rana had announced to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshri, the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. After Navneet Rana's announcement, Shiv Sainiks were seen attacking all over the state. The Rana couple arrived in Mumbai to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshri. On the other hand, Shiv Sainiks staged a sit-in outside Matoshri against the Rana couple. After Rana's announcement, Shiv Sena supporters became very angry and staged a protest outside Rana's house in Khar, Mumbai. Also, for two days, Shiv Sainiks had staged sit-ins against the Rana couple outside Matoshri.
The high voltage drama was going on for three days, after which the Rana couple had released a video saying that they would not go outside Matoshri to recite Hanuman Chalisa as the Prime Minister was finally coming to Mumbai. However, police arrested MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana. The Rana couple spent the night in police custody. He was produced in court the next day, Sunday. The court had sentenced him to 14 days in police custody. The Rana couple had then filed a bail application. Several hearings followed. The Rana couple's bail application was strongly opposed by the government. He was finally granted bail today.
