New Delhi.. Spanish star Rafael Nadal said that he understands the level of tennis he needs to play against World No.1 Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal of the French Open 2022 at Roland Garros. The 35-year-old Nadal had to work out of his skin to beat Canada’s Felix Auger Aliassime. The match went into the fifth set and Nadal won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 at Phillippe-Chatrier. Having last played against Djokovic last year, the 13-time French Open champion has kept his fingers crossed ahead of the crunch match.
Nadal said he’s going through a turbulent phase and he is unsure of his upcoming endeavors in his career. “I don't know 100%, because I didn't have a close test against him, because my last match against him was last year here. I didn't play this kind of match for the last three months, so it's gonna be a big challenge for me. Probably he (Djokovic) will be confident. I know how my situation is, and I accept it well. I'm gonna fight for it," Nadal was quoted as saying. "I can't complain much. I am in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros. Two weeks and a half ago ... I didn't even know if I would be able to be here. And being honest, every match that I play here, I don't know if it's gonna be my last match here in Roland Garros in my tennis career. That's my situation now,” he stated. “I am just trying to enjoy as much as possible and fight as much as I can to keep living the dream, that is to keep playing tennis and be back in a very advanced round of Roland Garros, playing against the world number one. "I hope to be able to give myself a chance to play at the highest level possible and then let's see," Nadal added. Nadal has won the French Open the most number of times, but it’s Djokovic, who is the defending champion.
