Testing the tolerance

There has been resentment against the Covid restrictions everywhere in Maharashtra. The people especially traders and hoteliers are losing their patience due to restricted timings due to which they are facing huge losses. Some of them have left with no other option but to close their establishment. If the hoteliers and other shopkeepers decide to close the businesses, lakhs of small time workers like waiters, servants will be pushed into unemployment, which will ultimately lead to unprecedented social disasters. The traders have valid point for their protest. Their counterparts in Mumbai have been permitted to keep shops open till 10 PM. The decision has been undoubtedly taken with an eye on BMC elections to be held early next years. Any political party needs the help of traders and hoteliers in any polls and they are voters base for many parties. So, Maha Vikas Aghadi government has decided to shower its love on Mumbai traders, their Thane and Pune counterparts have been forced to close businesses after 4 PM and fully closed on Sunday.  This discrimination is beyond the tolerance of traders in other cities. Actually, the basic logic of forcing the shopkeepers to close  shops is ridiculous and absurd. The Corona virus does not disappear after 4 PM in anywhere. So, the logic behind the order is really difficult to understand for any rational thinker. There has been allegations that, MVA government is deliberately harassing Pune traders because Pune Municipal Corporation is captured by BJP in elections. If the state government is using such tactics to teach a lesson to opposition and voters for voting them, it is extremely unacceptable and condemnable. If it is not, the government should end this discrimination and allow all other city shop keepers to open their businesses till at least 8 PM. The Covid restrictions and lockdown have basically have no logic. There is no scientific evidence that, Corona virus is not spread because of lockdown is imposed. Central government first started this baseless and completely anti people measure and state governments have been now following suite because they know now the advantages in lockdown and restrictions.  Traders and small vendors have most severely hit by this arbitrary decisions of state government. Already there are no businesses as lakhs of people have lost their jobs due to Corona lockdown. People have lost their purchasing power and due to empty pockets, the demand has been gone too low. This has triggered the collapse of economy which is raised only with the rising demand. When the demand has been already undergone beyond acceptable level, the government, may be central or state, is fuelling the matter with lockdown and restrictions. These decisions are guided by advices of bureaucracy which has nothing to do with shops remain open or closed. The political parties and leaders have already earned immense money so that, they can roll in money for next many generations. The rich people are not affected by such lockdowns. The only class that is affected by such baseless decisions is of small salaried class belonging to lower middle class (Actually it is poor class), small traders and vendors and hoteliers and restaurant owners. The MVA government should now stop to test the tolerance of shopkeepers and vendors and remove all the curbs on timings. Otherwise the resentment in many classes of people will sink this government one day. This is a play with fire and MVA government is enjoying it. The same is true about central government. Both governments will face the music if they continue with their lockdown policy.
