17 killed in road mishap in UP’s Kanpur

Kanpur: At least 17 people were killed and several others sustained injuries some of them seriously when a tempo collided with a double-decker bus at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday night. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. According to the police, the bus carrying the passengers was on the way from Kanpur to Ahmedabad. When the bus reached at Sachendi locality in Kanpur it collided with a tempo coming from the opposite direction.

Following the accident, police rushed to the spot and started rescue operations with the help of local residents. The injured were immediately shifted to the hospital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth have expressed deep grief over the mishap. The PM has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injured.CM Yogi has also announced a financial help of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased. The CM has asked the senior officials to provide all possible help to the victims.
