UP elections: Amit Shah will campaign door-to-door in Kairana

Lucknow : union home minister Amit Shah, along with party chief Jagat Prakash Nadda, chief minister Yogi Adityanath, state BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh, and other leaders, will participate in meetings, dialogues, and contact programmes to boost the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) campaign in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

Shah will also hold a door-to-door campaign in Kairana (in Shamli district) in western UP From Kairana, the BJP has fielded Mriganka Singh, the eldest daughter of late Hukum Singh, who won the seat several times. Meanwhile, at 1.30 p.m., Nadda will meet with officials from Bijnor, Nagina, and Muzaffarnagar at JBS Resort Bypass Road in Bijnor. He will then travel to Gajraula at 3 p.m., where he will meet with office bearers from Amroha, Moradabad, and Meerut Vidhan Sabha at the home of MP Kanwar Singh Tanwar.

In Aligarh and Bulandshahr, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will campaign. In Aligarh, he will meet with a group of prominent citizens. Adityanath will hold a door-to-door campaign in Bulandshahr at 2 p.m. Due to a ban imposed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in the wake of the rising number of Covid-19 cases, parties have been unable to hold rallies in Uttar Pradesh.

Western Uttar Pradesh is an important region for the BJP because it contains 108 seats and the party did well in the previous assembly election. In 2017, the party won 83 seats in the region, and its leaders are optimistic that it will do so again this year. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh, winning 78 of the state's 80 seats. When Amit Shah was the party's leader, it won over 300 seats in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and 62 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
