Punjab Congress without captain
Finally, the factionalism in Punjab Congress has taken its first victim in the form of chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh. He has resigned from the top post to pave the way for choosing next CM. Congress high command had made its mind to send him packing after several Congress MLAs upped the ante against captain. As the election in Punjab is around the corner, Congress can't afford to continue leadership impasse in the state. Captain's bete noire Navjyot Singh Siddhhu as did not allow him to work for a single day with ease. High command's attempt to patch up between two leaders failed miserably. This led to Sonia Gandhi's decision to ask Captain to set down. Though Siddhu camp may be rejoicing for captain's exit, its joy will not last longer. Congress will have to pay the price for this faction fighting in the grand old party. When Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani was removed from post by BJP, Congress was critical of the decision. But Congress itself has done the same thing. So how it will justify this decision? Actually, captain Amrinder was instrumental in bringing the party in power. Rahul Gandhi even did not visit the state in electioneering. But, mutiny in Punjab Congress forced  high command to experiment change of guard. There are many reasons that said to be gone against captain. He did not take any action against sacrilege which is the main cause. Captain had promised to send the culprits behind the bars. But did nothing which annoyed Siddhu camp. It is said that, captain has very good relations with Akali Dal leader Prakash Singh Badal. Thus has fuelled the fire as Badal is considered as man behind sacrilege. The other charges of captain has a coterie is minor as it can be said about any chief Minister.  Now, captain will not sit quietly and try to teach high command a lesson. He may join BJP also. He had given indications about his closeness to saffron party when Rahul Gandhi criticized Jalianwala Baug massacre memorial beautification, captain praised the work in presence of PM Modi. The arrogant and egoist Gandhi family was not to tolerate such open opposition. They consider it as a challenge to leadership. Now, Congress will haven't to bear with consequences. It may come with losing the state. Siddhu is not capable of handling the unit because he is not an original party worker.
