Yogi should be congratulated

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath should be congratulated first for his decision about population control which is generally no ruler touches due to vote loss. According to the Yogi government’s new decision, the  UP law commission that has formulated a population control bill. This bill says that the policy would be voluntary and nobody would be forced to follow any rule. However, if any person decides to on his or her own to not have more than two babies, they will be eligible for government schemes. While those who do not follow the policy will face restrictions in government jobs, availing ration, and other benefits. This is a very good decision and should be followed on a national scale and should be made compulsory to apply to all states and Union Territories. Had Congress applied this rule as it was seventy years in power, the nation today would have been one of the topmost countries of world. But, Congress, unfortunately, does not seem to come out of communal politics and appeasement of minorities due to which we lost a great opportunity of making unprecedented progress.  It was Sanjay Gandhi who tried to bring population control on centre stage, but his untimely death devastated the policy. As there was a myth that, Congress in 1977 elections lost due to Sanjay’s extremity in implementing population control measures. Since then, not only Congress, but no other party in power at centre did not show courage to implement this policy. Had Sanjay Gandhi lived for more years, the scenario in India would have been changed quite differently. In next year, Uttar Pradesh is going to polls and before that, Yogi has been implementing population control.  The couples having more than two children would be denied all the benefits of government schemes is a very good decision which can be a plank of election by both sides , i.e. opponents and supporters. As there is a danger of loss of votes, no other chief minister would not have shown courage to take such sensational issue in hands. Though Yogi has taken this decision with an eye on polarization of Hindu votes, but there is equal danger of losing minorities votes as well as the vote of  communities from Hindus also who may oppose this decision. Still, Yogihas applied the population control measure. Actually, it is very wrong to relate any measure of controlling of population with minority appeasing. Limited population is related with progress and prosperity of the country and not with any religion.  The minorities generally oppose population control which is just silly. They themselves are confining into darkness of ignorance and poverty. But Congress and likeminded parties only incite them on this issue and prevent them with coming into mainstream. Meanwhile, the BJP-led government in Assam may soon give effect to a 2017 resolution titled ‘Population and Women Empowerment Policy of Assam’ that proposed a bar on people with more than two children from getting government jobs and other benefits. There is already a rule in place in the north-eastern state wherein those an individual with more than two children is not allowed to contest local body elections.Over the years, several other states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra have introduced such measures to bring down the population, but the success has not been equally spread. While states like Bihar and UP continue to register high population growth, others have been able to control the fertility rate. Yogi has created a path for others to follow and if others do not follow him, they are just digging their own grave.
