Where is federalism

India is run on the basis of constitution and it has a basic principle of federalism which means both centre and states should respect each other’s jurisdiction and there should be no animosity between centre and states or within states themselves. But, today we are seeing this spirit of federalism has gone into oblivion as states and centre are at loggerheads and states are also catching neck of other states. The issues are several. From river water sharing to electricity and from giving entry to other states people. If we go by examples, the list will be endless. On the distribution of vaccines, the states and centre have shown enough differences and actual animosity between the two. When Maharashtra saw Maha Vikas Aghadi comprising of three parties Congress, Shivsena and NCP, centre and the state have become  permanent enemy to each other. Maharashtra has always accused of BJP for using ED and CBI to harass state leaders while BJP claims it is only punishing the corrupt leaders. The most intense animosity between centre and state can be given of West Bengal. Chief minister Mamta Banarjee had shown arrogancy of coming late to PM Modi’s meeting and exiting earlier. She also alleges in very severe language against Modi and Amit Shaha which is an example of how spirit of federalism has been shattered to pieces. Just on Monday, Mizoram and Assam police fired at each other on border row in which at least five Assam Rifles police had been killed by Mizo police. The border row has been escalated once again and for the first time, police personnel have been killed. This is very serious and if it continues, it can be said that we may move forward towards Banana State. The country may move towards separation or secessionism. This is very bad for country or its unity and integrity is in jeopardy. This is not a sentence to throw in speeches but it is actually happening. Karnataka and Tamilnadu are at loggerheads on the issue of Kaweri water distribution and Maharashtra and Karnataka are fighting with each other constantly on Belgaon and other villages for inclusion in the latter. This is not enough. Presently Goa and Dehli are hurling allegations on each other with Delhi energy minister using Goan politicians as third class. This is very foul language and it must be banned from politics. The dirty or foul language is used in politics very commonly which is the root cause of shattering spirit of federalism. States and centre are equally faulty for this unacceptable situation and both sides should have some restrains. Old politicians were fighting elections and making moves beneficial to their home states, but they never crossed the boundary of spirit of federalism and interest of their home states. Today’s politicians are lacking that maturity and respect for constitution. They speak of constitution constantly, but actual behaviour is precisely against it.  The reason is electoral victory is ultimate aim of these rot politicians. In old days, the politicians had not come into politics as the main business but to serve the society was their goal. Today, this difference can be seen explicitly as politicians have entered into politics to accumulate wealth for next generations. In this greed, they have forgotten constitution or spirit of federalism. This is not beneficial for the country but if the animosity continues and rises further, the nation is in danger of shattering into pieces. Every body should keep this in mind always.
