New Delhi : Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli’s lean patch of form continued to stretch on after his failure with the bat against Punjab Kings. In a brief stay of 14 balls, Kohli scored 20 runs before getting out to South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada inside the powerplay overs.
However, at the time that he was in the crease, he looked good for his 14, hitting one six and two boundaries. After his dismissal, Kohli slammed his bat in anger and walked off in frustration when the third umpire ruled him out via the Decision Review System. Speaking after the game, RCB’s head of cricket operations Mike Hesson said that Kohli looked so good in the early overs that the dugout believed that the big score was due on the day against Punjab. "He looked in good touch, he was aggressive, and he is doing everything off the park as well in terms of making sure he prepares well. I thought today was going to be his day but once again it hits the other side of the thigh pad and goes down and he gets a single. He hasn't had a huge amount of huge fortune especially when he has got himself set, when he has got himself in. He is as frustrated as anybody. We thought today was going to be the day," Hesson said after the game. Reacting to Kohli’s dismissal, even the rival team was prompted to post a message on the social media hoping for the ‘King’s’ comeback. Punjab put out a message via their Instagram account stating that they hoped to see him back at his best soon. “Virat Kohli, even we enjoyed while it lasted. Hope luck turns on your side soon! ” Punjab wrote.
